Initially, her last known location was reported to be in the 2600 block of Cherry Lane in Fort Worth. The Fort Worth Police Department issued a missing person alert, expressing concern that Vickers might be in danger. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a white woman, 5'3" tall, and weighing about 175 pounds. Her family, deeply worried, initiated efforts to find her, facing an agonizing lack of information about her whereabouts or who she might have been with. As the investigation into Sheri Vickers' disappearance progressed, new information shifted the focus of the search. While she was initially reported missing from Fort Worth, authorities later determined that she was last seen alive in Breckenridge, Texas, on the same day she went missing. Investigators learned she was in the company of a 57-year-old man from Abilene named John Brown Lewis, in a white Dodge Ram pickup. When last seen, she was wearing a white tank top, jeans, and red sandals and had a bag of clothing with her. This updated information led law enforcement to believe her body may have been left somewhere within an hour's drive of Stephens County. This prompted the involvement of the Breckenridge Police Department and the Stephens County Sheriff's Office, who assisted Fort Worth detectives in the investigation. Tragically, the search for Sheri Vickers came to a heartbreaking conclusion. On February 3, 2024, skeletal remains were discovered by a property owner in a field in Stephens County. Law enforcement officials suspected the remains belonged to Vickers, and her family was notified of the discovery. An obituary later confirmed that the remains were indeed those of Sheri Lynne Vickers. Described as a free spirit who cherished her family and had a deep connection to the outdoors, her death was a profound loss to her loved ones. Her family expressed their gratitude to the Fort Worth Homicide Detective for the dedication that brought them a sense of closure. The case, which began as a missing person investigation, concluded with the sad discovery of her passing, leaving a family to mourn a life cut short.
