In the early morning hours of March 1, 2023, 32-year-old Rebecca Demory was last seen in southeast Odessa, Texas. She had traveled to Odessa from her home in Seminole, Texas, to visit a sick relative. On the day of her disappearance, she experienced a medical issue that required her to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. After her release, she indicated she was going to walk to her Dodge Durango, which she had left at her hotel due to mechanical problems. However, Rebecca never made it to her vehicle and has not been seen or heard from since. At the time she went missing, she was wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt with a plaid hem, black pants, and gray athletic shoes with white soles. She was also carrying a black and teal duffel bag. Surveillance footage from that morning showed a man helping Rebecca into his white Chevrolet work truck. Authorities were able to identify the man, who told them he had been communicating with Rebecca through a dating app. He claimed he picked her up because she needed a ride and a place to stay, and that he dropped her off near Moss Avenue in west Odessa. Shortly after, the man, who police have identified as a person of interest, stopped cooperating with the investigation. A search of his work truck revealed bodily fluids in the back seat and traces of blood in the cab, which was later confirmed to be Rebecca's. The man attributed the blood to a nosebleed, a claim Rebecca's family disputes, stating she did not suffer from nosebleeds. The Odessa Police Department continues to investigate Rebecca's disappearance and has conducted several searches in various parts of South Odessa. Since she vanished, there has been no activity on her phone or credit cards, and her bank account has not been accessed. Her family insists that she would not have willingly abandoned them. The case remains unsolved, leaving her loved ones with unanswered questions and a continued search for the truth.
