On September 3, 2025, in Bellingham, Washington, 17-year-old Alex Jordan Thaddeus Brooks told his family he was heading to the library, a routine activity for him. He left on his electric skateboard and was reportedly in good spirits. Alex, a Black / African American male with black hair, brown eyes, and a cross tattoo on his neck, never returned home. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing between 120 and 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark sweatshirt with white lettering, black pants, and white shoes. The days that followed his disappearance were filled with concern as Alex missed multiple appointments, which was out of character for him. The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation into his case. Although Alex was known to be active on social media, his family's attempts to reach him through these channels were unsuccessful. Authorities believed he was likely still in the Bellingham area and was known to utilize the local Whatcom Transportation Authority transit system. The community was asked to be on the lookout for the teenager and to provide any information that might lead to his whereabouts. Ultimately, Alex Brooks was found alive. While the specific details and date of his recovery are not widely publicized, the case is no longer considered an active missing person investigation. The circumstances leading to his return and what occurred during the time he was missing have not been publicly detailed. The resolution of his case brought an end to a period of uncertainty for his family and community, closing a chapter that began with a simple trip to the library.
