Michael R. Elkinton, a 62-year-old Vietnam War veteran, was last seen on July 12, 2017, in Pope County, Arkansas. He resided in a secluded cabin on White Oak Mountain Road near the town of Hector, bordering the Ozark National Forest. Elkinton's daughter discovered him missing when she visited his home and found the door wide open. Inside the cabin were his boots, cigarettes, wallet, hat, and an open can of beer, but there was no sign of him.
