On July 6, 1997, 38-year-old Pegye Jann Bechler disappeared while boating with her husband, Eric Bechler, off the coast of Newport Beach, California. The couple had rented a speedboat to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary and Pegye's 38th birthday.
