Davante Marquez Richardson, a 28-year-old man from Washington D.C., was last seen on July 22, 2020. At approximately 11:00 p.m., he left his mother's home on Mississippi Avenue Southeast, driving his blue 2016 Jeep Compass with Washington D.C. license plate number GD1855. Richardson, a passionate music enthusiast who dreamed of becoming a music producer, told a friend he was traveling to Cody, Wyoming, to meet with the rapper Kanye West, whom he referred to as "his buddy."
Richardson did not have a personal relationship with West, who owns a ranch in Greybull, Wyoming.
On July 27, 2020, Richardson's Jeep Compass was found abandoned on a remote dirt road in Big Horn County, Wyoming, approximately 15 to 20 miles from West's ranch. The vehicle was in running condition, and his laptop and cell phones were discovered inside. There was no sign of Richardson. An investigation by authorities, which included interviewing Kanye West's security team, yielded no evidence that Richardson ever arrived at the ranch.
A potential sighting of Richardson occurred on July 26 at a gas station about 150 miles south of where his vehicle was located. A witness reported seeing a man who resembled Richardson getting into the passenger side of his Jeep, while a white female entered the driver's seat. At the time of his disappearance, Richardson was living with his mother after losing his job as a grocery store manager due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
