On July 7, 2017, 14-year-old Maria Yaneth Vasquez disappeared from Frederick, Maryland. She was last seen at her home in the 1200 block of Danielle Drive at approximately 2:00 p.m. following a disagreement with her mother. Authorities initially believed that Maria had left of her own accord and might have been staying with friends in the local area. This belief was partly based on a previous incident in January 2017, when she had run away but was found safe two weeks later.
