Dyrahyl T. Buchanan, a 39-year-old man from Hollandale, Mississippi, was last seen on January 4, 2000. On the day of his disappearance, Buchanan had been drinking and was driving in a rural area along Mississippi Highway 436. His vehicle was pulled over by police officers in the area.
After initially stopping his car, Buchanan suddenly sped away as the officers approached. A short time later, he crashed his vehicle in a ditch. Buchanan then abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot.
