Darla Kay McCormick, a 44-year-old employee at the Eddy County Detention Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico, was last seen on October 2, 2008. At approximately 2:30 a.m., she left her job before her shift ended, appearing to be upset and without permission. Later that morning, around 8:00 a.m., McCormick had brief email and telephone communication with her family; this was the last time anyone heard from her.
