Pernell Lloyd Tewangoitewa, a 21-year-old cosmetology student, was last seen on May 29, 1998, in Farmington, New Mexico. He was a bouncer at Gator's Bar & Grill and had spent the evening at the establishment with his sister and friends. After leaving the bar, Tewangoitewa was driving his sister's 1988 Pontiac Subaru station wagon. His sister, who was traveling in a separate vehicle, believed he was following her to their shared home in Bloomfield, about ten miles away, but he never arrived.
