Margarita Gonzalez-Almazan, a 47-year-old woman from Bluffton, South Carolina, was last seen at her home at 3:00 a.m. on December 1, 2013. Her disappearance occurred after she hosted a birthday party for her grandson. During the party, a dispute arose between Gonzalez-Almazan and her 40-year-old boyfriend, Osman Galicia-Escobedo, who had been drinking heavily. Her daughter overheard her say to Galicia-Escobedo, "What is my granddaughter going to do when I leave you?", which caused him to cry.
