On September 27, 2014, 67-year-old John Brent Myers was last seen in Portsmouth, Virginia. He had informed friends that he was going to a hospital to receive medical treatment. Myers was never heard from again. His roommate and longtime friend, Michael Watters, stated that Myers had woken him up and expressed his intention to check into Maryview Hospital. Watters, who mentioned that Myers lives with multiple mental disorders, offered to take him, but Myers declined.
