In the winter of 2019, a 14-year-old female named Kaitlynn Munson disappeared from Seattle, Washington. She was a resident of the Spruce Street Inn, a group home for at-risk youth located in the First Hill neighborhood. On January 21st of that year, Kaitlynn walked away from the facility and was never heard from again. At the time she went missing, she was described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 120 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Kaitlynn also wore glasses. She had faced significant hardship in her young life; both of her parents had passed away, and she had been in the care of the state since the age of eleven. Concerns for Kaitlynn's welfare were heightened due to her having severe developmental disabilities, which led to her case being classified as an endangered missing person. Although it is believed that she left the group home voluntarily, her personal circumstances made her particularly vulnerable. In the immediate aftermath of her disappearance, there were several possible sightings of her within the Seattle area. However, none of these sightings were ever definitively confirmed, and as time passed, reported sightings ceased altogether. The lack of any new information has left her case unsolved. The investigation into Kaitlynn's disappearance has remained open. Law enforcement, along with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, has continued to seek information from the public. To aid in the search, forensic artists created an age-progressed photograph to provide an estimation of what Kaitlynn might look like as she got older. The overview of this case is that of a vulnerable teenager who vanished from a place of care. Having already experienced the loss of her parents, Kaitlynn was navigating a difficult path. Her decision to walk away from the group home led to a situation where her whereabouts and safety remain unknown, a source of ongoing concern for those dedicated to finding her.
