On August 10, 1976, 20-year-old Celeste Wyma Hensley Greub was hiking with two female friends in the Cloud Peak Wilderness of the Bighorn Mountains in Johnson County, Wyoming. The group was near the trailhead for Cloud Peak when Greub, feeling tired, decided to stay behind and rest while her friends continued the climb.
