A sense of unease settled over Fayetteville, North Carolina, in the spring of 2025. Seventeen-year-old Savanna Layanaza Smyre, a young woman with black hair and hazel eyes, disappeared on May 8th. She was last seen in the area of the 1300 block of Rock Hill Road in Cumberland County. On that day, she was wearing a distinctive blue bonnet, a black shirt, and black sweatpants.
