Virginia Wood, a 19-year-old college student, vanished in March 2007 while on a spring break trip to visit a friend in Brownsville, Texas. Originally from Chocowinity, North Carolina, Wood was a freshman at Appalachian State University studying accounting and was on the Dean's List. She drove her black 2003 Nissan Sentra on a 1,400-mile trip to meet her high school friend, Kelly Gaskins.
