Yeritza Aponte-Soto, 17, was last seen on February 10, 2001, in the municipality of Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. On the day of her disappearance, she left her home in the Luciana community with the intention of going to some swimming pools in the Collores area but never returned. At the time she went missing, Aponte-Soto was described as a Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes, standing at 5'0" and weighing approximately 130 pounds.
She has a large birthmark on her left hand, a five-inch scar on her right leg, and a missing upper left tooth. When last seen, she was wearing a beige t-shirt, blue spandex capri shorts, blue sandals, and was carrying a blue backpack.
Authorities believe Yeritza Aponte-Soto was abducted by Amilcar Matias Torres. This suspicion arose after investigators discovered 26 photos of her, some in suggestive poses, buried in a bag under his patio. Torres's brother also confirmed that Torres knew Aponte-Soto. At the time of these revelations, Torres was serving a twenty-year prison sentence for soliciting sex from several teenage girls he met online.
Despite the evidence linking him to Aponte-Soto's disappearance, Amilcar Matias Torres has never been formally charged in her case. He is also considered a suspect in the disappearances of two other young women, Kamyle Burgos Ortiz and Cristina Ruiz-Rodriguez, leading investigators to believe he may be a serial killer. The disappearance of Yeritza Aponte-Soto remains unsolved, and her case is classified as an endangered missing person. Her family, who was forced to move from Puerto Rico due to the immense pain caused by her disappearance, continues to hope for answers.Last Seen: Feb 10, 2001
