On May 2, 1992, four-year-old Michelle Delfi-Feliciano was abducted from her grandparents' home in the Barrio Jauca neighborhood of Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico. At approximately 8:00 p.m., while visiting her grandparents, Michelle was playing in a neighbor's front yard. Her grandfather reported hearing an old car drive by and when he went to check on her, she was gone. At the time of her disappearance, Michelle was wearing a blue shirt and a denim skirt.
She had a distinctive feature: her upper front teeth were deformed and formed an open half-circle when she bit down. She was described as an intelligent, playful, and affectionate child who enjoyed being outdoors and riding her bicycle.
Following her initial disappearance, it was established that Michelle was in the company of a family acquaintance. This individual later returned to Puerto Rico, but Michelle was not with them. There has been speculation that her father or someone from his side of the family may have been involved in her disappearance, though this has never been proven. It is also believed that she may have been disguised as a boy at some point after she was taken.
The investigation into Michelle's disappearance has been ongoing for decades, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's office in Puerto Rico handling the case. Authorities believe she may be on the eastern seaboard of the mainland United States, specifically within Puerto Rican communities in Florida, Massachusetts, or New York, as her family has ties to these areas. The Dominican Republic has also been mentioned as a possible location. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has circulated age-progressed photos of Michelle to show what she might look like as she has gotten older.
