In the small community of Concrete, Washington, the life of 37-year-old Krista Hunt came to a tragic and untimely end. She was last seen on or around January 25th near the Lone Star Restaurant in Concrete. Witnesses reported seeing her with her boyfriend, with whom she allegedly got into his truck. Moments later, Krista reportedly exited the vehicle and walked away, vanishing into the uncertainty of that day. Her disappearance prompted concern among those who knew her and the wider community, as "missing person" posters with her face became a common sight, a silent plea for her safe return. The initial hope for her wellbeing was overshadowed by a growing sense of dread as days turned into weeks with no sign of her. The investigation into Krista's disappearance soon uncovered a disturbing history of domestic abuse. Her mother, Pamela Hunt, revealed that her daughter's boyfriend had been abusive, alleging that he had previously hospitalized Krista. Two weeks before she went missing, her mother had picked her up from a train station after being brought there by the Skagit County Sheriff's Office. At that time, she was reportedly covered in bruises, had two black eyes, had been strangled, and suffered a broken leg. Doctors had warned that another strangulation attempt could be fatal. In a bizarre and troubling turn of events, just two days after Krista was reported missing, her boyfriend reportedly attempted to take his own life at a bar in Concrete; he survived the attempt. Investigators later found Krista's blood and clumps of her hair in her boyfriend's truck. Nearly two months after she was last seen, the search for Krista Hunt reached a heartbreaking conclusion. Her body was recovered from the Skagit River on March 12th, about a mile east of Concrete. The Skagit County coroner later confirmed the remains belonged to Krista. While an exact cause of death could not be determined, the coroner noted she had suffered a broken jaw, broken ribs, and a broken neck. Following the discovery, Krista's boyfriend, Juan Delgado, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death. The case of Krista Hunt is a tragic story that highlights the devastating consequences of domestic violence. Her disappearance and death left a profound impact on her family and the small town of Concrete, serving as a somber reminder of a life cut short.
