Sara Michelle Rose Ray, a 31-year-old woman from Mission Viejo, California, was last seen on November 28, 2020, in the 22000 block of Via Pimiento. Despite going missing in late November, Sara was not reported missing until January 2021. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as 5'4", 130 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and several distinctive tattoos, including a "Hello Kitty" tattoo on her left arm.

Sara's boyfriend, Kerwin Andrew Varela, became a suspect in the case. In October 2021, authorities issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of murder. He was eventually located and arrested in Florida in March 2022, then extradited back to California. Despite his arrest, Sara's body has never been found, and investigators have not disclosed a motive or cause of death. Varela is currently awaiting trial.
