In the winter of 2017, concern grew for a 54-year-old man from Edmonton, Alberta, named Badri Prasad Bhattarai. He was reported missing on February 21, 2017, after his family was unable to get in touch with him, a silence that was deeply uncharacteristic and raised immediate alarm for his safety and well-being. His last known whereabouts were in the vicinity of the Walterdale Bridge in Edmonton. At the time he vanished, authorities stated there were no initial signs to suggest foul play was involved in his disappearance.

Badri was described as an East Indian male, standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 176 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. He had a few distinct features, including a mole on his right nostril and dark scarring on both of his shins, a result of diabetes. When he was last seen, he was wearing dark blue uniform pants, a white shirt, a black tie, and black-framed glasses. He also wore a gold ring with three clear stones on his left hand. It is believed he may have been carrying two necklaces: one was a black chain holding a Volkswagen key fob, a house key, a locker key, and a mailbox key, while the second was a black chain with a pendant that had the letter “R” and a Swedish flag on it.

Years have passed since Badri Prasad Bhattarai was last heard from, and his whereabouts remain a mystery. The Edmonton Police Service has continued to seek information from the public that could help resolve the case and provide answers to his concerned family. His disappearance, marked as out of character, left a void for his loved ones who are still awaiting any news. The investigation into what happened to him has remained open, a quiet but persistent search for the Edmonton man who seemingly vanished without a trace.
