In the final days of 2020, a 32-year-old Indigenous man named Tyler Eugene Desorcy was last seen in downtown Victoria, British Columbia. On December 30th, he was in the vicinity of the 800-block of Courtney Street. At the time of his disappearance, Tyler was wearing a long black jacket, a green hooded sweatshirt that had a design on the front, black sweatpants, and dark-colored running shoes. Described as standing five-foot-nine with a heavy build, dark brown hair, and brown eyes, Tyler is also noted to walk with a distinct limp. His family and friends have not heard from him since that day, marking the beginning of a long and painful search for answers. The official search for Tyler began when he was reported missing to the Victoria Police Department on January 5, 2021. From the outset, investigators classified his disappearance as high-risk. This heightened level of concern was due to a medical condition that requires treatment, making his absence all the more alarming. It was considered highly unusual for Tyler to have no contact with his family, which deepened the mystery surrounding his case. In the weeks and months that followed, Victoria police issued numerous public alerts, hoping to gather information that might lead to his location. A photograph taken from CCTV footage shortly before he vanished was released to the public in the hope that it might jog someone's memory. As time stretched on, the search for Tyler continued without a breakthrough. On the first and second anniversaries of his disappearance, Victoria police renewed their public appeals for information, emphasizing that their investigation remained active and ongoing. They have continually urged anyone who might have seen Tyler or has any knowledge of his whereabouts to come forward, no matter how insignificant the detail may seem. The case of Tyler Desorcy is a troubling one, involving a high-risk individual who vanished from a downtown area, leaving investigators and his loved ones without any clear indication of what happened to him. Despite numerous police alerts and the passage of several years, his whereabouts remain unknown.
