In the early summer of 2000, the life of Alfred Troy Edgell, a 30-year-old father, took a mysterious and troubling turn. On June 4th, he was last seen in Cornwall, Ontario, after spending time with his children. He had just dropped off his six-year-old daughter at her grandmother's house following his son's birthday party. Edgell, known to be a devoted family man who spoke with his children almost daily, then seemingly vanished. He was driving a maroon 1987 Lincoln that he had borrowed from a friend and was expected to visit another friend in Smith Falls, but he never made it to his destination. The sense of unease surrounding his disappearance grew when his beloved dog was discovered tied up and starving outside his cabin in Chelsea, Quebec, an act that seemed entirely out of character for him. The day after he was last seen, the investigation took a grim turn when the Lincoln he had been driving was found completely burned out and abandoned in the remote Lanark Highlands, northwest of Perth. The discovery of the charred vehicle more than two hours away from where he was last seen immediately led police to suspect foul play was involved in his disappearance. The Cornwall Community Police Service initiated the investigation, but due to the multi-jurisdictional nature of the case, it was handed over to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in 2002. Investigators learned that while Edgell was a father who owned a chip wagon near the University of Ottawa, he also had connections to the drug trade, with court documents indicating two drug possession convictions in 1998. This added a complex layer to the investigation into his sudden disappearance. Years have passed since Alfred Troy Edgell was last heard from, and his case has grown cold, yet authorities continue to seek answers. Despite numerous appeals to the public and a $50,000 reward for information leading to a break in the case, his whereabouts remain unknown. Investigators have confirmed that there has been no activity on his bank or credit cards since he went missing. The case is described by law enforcement as being full of twists and turns with many interesting characters, some with criminal backgrounds. Police believe that there are people who hold the key to what happened to Edgell and continue to hope that someone will come forward. The disappearance of a man described as a loving father has left a void in the lives of his family, who are still awaiting closure in a case that has been fraught with troubling questions and a scarcity of answers.
