In the autumn of 2011, concern grew for 67-year-old Michel Guy Favreau, a resident of Zenon Park, Saskatchewan. Friends and family had not seen or heard from him for as long as a week, prompting a call to the authorities. The last time anyone had contact with him was believed to be between September 22 and September 25, 2011. At the time of his disappearance, Favreau was described as being approximately five feet, nine inches tall and weighing 170 pounds, with short, balding brown-grey hair, blue eyes, and he wore glasses. Though he lived alone in Nipawin and was in generally good health, it was noted by police that he was being treated for depression.

The investigation into his whereabouts began on the morning of October 4, 2011, when Nipawin RCMP received a report about an abandoned vehicle at Carol's Cove Campground, located about 40 kilometers northwest of Nipawin. The vehicle, a green 1998 Chrysler Intrepid registered to Favreau, had been parked at the campsite since September 25. Upon inspection, police found the car locked with the keys still in the ignition, and Favreau's wallet was discovered inside the vehicle. This discovery prompted an immediate and thorough search of the surrounding area.

Despite extensive search efforts, no trace of Michel Guy Favreau has been found. Members of the RCMP, a police dog services unit, and the F Division Search and Rescue team conducted a ground search around the campground where his car was located. Over the years, several searches involving ground, water, and air crews were undertaken in the hope of locating him, but all have been unsuccessful. While there is no evidence to suggest his disappearance is suspicious in nature, he remains unaccounted for. The case of Michel Guy Favreau is a somber reminder of a community's enduring questions and a family's hope for answers.
