At approximately 7:32 p.m., he asked the driver to drop him off at a specific location: an emergency pull-off on the Stanley Park Causeway, near the imposing Lions Gate Bridge. This was the last confirmed sighting of Louis. In the days that followed, an extensive search was launched, involving a coordinated effort from the RCMP's West Coast Marine Services, the Coast Guard, Vancouver Police Marine Unit, and Park Rangers, who scoured the land and water around the bridge, but their efforts yielded no clues. His bank accounts, cell phone, and social media all fell silent, with no activity following that evening. As the search continued without results, Louis's mother, Lupe Carrera, traveled from Ecuador to Vancouver, her heart heavy with worry. In a tearful public plea, she spoke of her son as the "greatest gift," a loyal friend, and the best son a mother could imagine, begging for his return.
