In the late spring of 2021, a family's life was forever altered by the disappearance of Thomas Andrew Grise. A 59-year-old Indigenous man, Thomas was last seen on May 30, 2021, in the vicinity of the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, near Valleyview, Alberta. At the time he went missing, he was described as being approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall and weighing between 200 and 210 pounds, with brown eyes and brown or greying hair. When he was last observed, he was wearing a grey hooded sweater. Noticeable features include scars on his head, his right hand, and around his eyes. Concern for his well-being was heightened by his family's worries about potential health and memory issues. The search for Thomas has been complicated by his lifestyle. At the time of his disappearance, he did not maintain a permanent residence and was known to be transient. He frequently traveled between several communities, including Edmonton and Grande Prairie in Alberta, and Dawson Creek in British Columbia, making it difficult for investigators to pinpoint his possible whereabouts. It is also known that he may have used several aliases, including the first names Tom, Timothy, Andres, or Ander, and the last names Griese or Ducharme. His daughter has expressed the pain of his absence, stating he disappeared without a trace, leaving his loved ones in a state of uncertainty. Years have passed since that day in May, yet Thomas Andrew Grise has not been seen or heard from. The Valleyview RCMP continue to seek assistance from the public, hoping for any information that might lead to answers. His family continues to hold out hope, sharing his story and picture on social media in an effort to find him. The case remains an open investigation into the unexplained disappearance of a man whose transient life and possible health concerns add layers of complexity. The lack of any contact or sightings has left a void for his family, who are still searching for a resolution after an extended period of painful ambiguity.
