The last confirmed sighting of Jody was outside the York Hotel in the downtown area of Grande Prairie, where she was seen getting into an older-model white car. Five days later, on February 27, 2009, she was officially reported as a missing person to the Grande Prairie Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Adding to the unsettling nature of her disappearance was the fact that her purse and phone were left with the people she had been with earlier that night.
