At the time of his disappearance, he was described as being 5'7" tall with long brown hair and a distinguishing feature of a missing tooth on the right side of his mouth. The investigation into Dustin's whereabouts began to focus on the city of Sarnia. A significant development came when his black Dodge Ram pickup truck was discovered abandoned. Some reports indicate the vehicle was found on November 24, 2022, in a parking lot near the Days Inn in Sarnia, while others state it was located on November 30 in the vicinity of Harbour Road. Surveillance footage captured a person believed to be Dustin parking the truck and walking south towards the waterfront. This discovery led law enforcement to concentrate their search efforts in that area, hoping to find a clue that would lead them to him. As the search continued, the Sarnia Police Service, along with the Ontario Provincial Police's underwater search and recovery unit, conducted extensive searches of the St. Clair River in December 2022, but these efforts did not lead to finding Dustin. The authorities have not indicated any suspicion of foul play in his disappearance. Over the years, police have made renewed appeals to the public for any information that might help locate him, emphasizing the profound impact his absence has had on his family and the community.
