In the early morning hours of December 28, 2019, 27-year-old Joel Aaron Judd vanished from the Slave Lake area of Alberta. He was last seen at approximately 3:00 a.m. leaving a house party west of Slave Lake, near Bayer Road. Originally from Fort Vermilion, it was thought he might have traveled to John D'or Prairie or High Level. At the time of his disappearance, Joel was described as an Indigenous male, standing approximately 5'8" to 5'9" tall, with a medium to heavy build, weighing between 160 and 205 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. The last time anyone saw him, he was wearing a dark grey coat, a grey t-shirt, light blue jeans, a grey baseball cap with an orange logo, and black cowboy boots. His family and friends, unable to contact him, officially reported him missing to the RCMP on January 3, 2020. The night he disappeared, Joel had been at a local bar in Slave Lake before leaving with a few other people. They stopped to purchase alcohol before continuing to the house party on Whitetail Way. During the evening, Joel reportedly telephoned his uncle to let him know he was with a friend. According to those at the party, Joel left the residence in the early morning and was never seen or heard from again. His disappearance was described as being completely out of character, causing deep concern among his loved ones. Investigators were able to use banking records to trace his movements and identify the individuals he was with that night. Police later recovered Joel's jacket from the location of the party. Despite the passage of time, Joel Aaron Judd remains missing. Extensive searches of the property where he was last seen and the surrounding areas have yielded no signs of him. The initial search efforts were hampered by falling temperatures and wind. His bank account has not been touched since the day he went missing. The case remains unsolved, leaving his family with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss. They have conducted their own searches and continue to hold out hope for information that might explain what happened to him after he left the party that December morning. The Slave Lake RCMP are still seeking public assistance in this case, and his family and community continue to hope for answers and for Joel to be brought home.
