Inside her apartment, her purse, containing her money and identification, was left behind, a silent testament to her intention of a short journey. However, Martha Kelly, a woman described as being in good physical condition for her age, never returned from her walk, vanishing without a trace. The alarm was raised the following day when it was realized that no one had seen or heard from Martha. This initiated a massive search effort as community members and authorities rallied to find the missing senior. Despite being physically fit, there was a significant concern for her well-being; Martha suffered from short-term memory loss resulting from a brain aneurysm she had experienced years prior, in 2002. The search was extensive, involving the RCMP, five search and rescue teams, and over 150 volunteers who scoured more than 250 hectares of terrain near her home. The effort expanded to include volunteers on ATVs who covered approximately 800 kilometers of trails and rural roads, while a military helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft conducted searches from the air. Despite these exhaustive efforts, no sign of Martha was ever found, and with no clear direction of her travel, the ground search was eventually called off. Years have passed since Martha Kelly was last seen, and her disappearance remains an unsolved case that has left a lasting impact on the community of Perth-Andover. Investigators have acknowledged that the case is at a standstill, with a feeling among them that someone in the local area may hold the key information needed to resolve the mystery of what happened to her. Described as 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds, with short grey and white hair and glasses, her image has been shared numerous times in public appeals for information. The case is a poignant reminder of a beloved community member who disappeared while doing something she loved.
