Cory, a Caucasian male standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing around 165 pounds, was not adequately dressed for the December weather. He was last seen wearing grey cotton casual pants, a grey shirt, a black canvas jacket, and black Nike running shoes. At the time of his disappearance, he had brown hair that was shaved very close to his head and was unshaven. It has been noted by his family that in the week leading up to his disappearance, he had been experiencing a significant mental health crisis and had sought hospital care on multiple occasions. Immediately following the report of his disappearance, an extensive search was launched in the area where he was last seen. The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Central Region Emergency Response Team, K9 units, and an OPP helicopter, scoured the vicinity of O'Reilly Lane. Despite these significant efforts, no trace of Cory was found. Police have indicated that they do not suspect foul play in his disappearance. In the years that have followed, the investigation has remained open, with police periodically issuing new appeals to the public for any information that might help them solve this cold case. His family has also been active in seeking information, with his father mentioning having received a couple of unconfirmed tips suggesting Cory might be in the Calgary area. The disappearance of Cory Lanteigne has left his loved ones with unanswered questions and enduring grief. His father has described the week before he went missing as a period of acute mental health struggles, stating, "He wasn't Cory. He wasn't himself.
