A member of the Lac Seul First Nation, Alex was a familiar face in his community, known for his long, straight grey hair, brown eyes, and the facial hair he usually wore. On November 27th, he was last seen on video surveillance leaving his apartment in the 200 block of Madeline Street. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black baseball cap, a light-colored North Face puffer jacket with a dark upper area, blue jeans, and black shoes. There have been other possible but unconfirmed sightings of him in the area of city hall in the days following his last confirmed appearance. His family grew increasingly concerned as days turned into weeks with no word from him, a man known to walk long distances, but never to vanish without a trace. The search for Alex Lawson has since evolved into one of the most extensive missing person investigations in the history of the Thunder Bay Police Service. Authorities have utilized a wide array of resources in their efforts to locate him, including drone and K9 searches, as well as waterway investigations. The public has been actively engaged, with police receiving numerous tips, though none have led to a confirmed sighting. In an effort to generate new leads, a dedicated tipline has been established, and a substantial reward has been offered for information that directly leads to confirming his whereabouts. This reward is a combined effort from the Thunder Bay Police Services Board and the Lac Seul First Nation. His family has been relentless in their own search, organizing ground searches with the support of neighboring First Nations communities and launching poster and billboard campaigns to keep his image in the public eye. Years have passed since Alexander Lawson was last seen, and the lack of answers has left his family heartbroken and grappling with the unknown. His daughter, Kimberly, has spoken of the nightmare her family has endured since his disappearance, and they continue to plead with the public for any information that might help bring him home. Despite the exhaustive search efforts, there have been no confirmed sightings of Alex since the day he went missing, and his bank account and health card have remained inactive. The investigation remains active, with police continuing to follow up on any new information that comes in. The case serves as a somber reminder of the enduring pain and uncertainty that families of the missing face, as they hold onto hope for closure.
