In the early morning hours of November 25, 2012, Chris Metallic, a 20-year-old student at Mount Allison University, vanished from Sackville, New Brunswick. He had been at a house party on Allison Avenue and was last seen leaving around 1:30 a.m. It is believed he was intending to walk back to his own residence on Maple Avenue, a journey that should have taken about twenty minutes. Concerns grew when Chris, a young Indigenous man described as kind and gentle, never made it home. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue zip-up hoodie, and a pair of borrowed flip-flops, ill-suited for the cold November weather. He had also left behind his own shoes and cell phone at the party. The investigation into Chris's disappearance began swiftly, with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) launching a missing person investigation. A significant development came when a witness reported seeing a man matching Chris's description walking along Upper Aboujagane Road at approximately 5:30 a.m., a considerable distance from the party's location. This rural road is about 23 kilometers north of Sackville on foot. The witness found it strange to see someone walking there at that early hour and had contacted the police. Tragically, not long after he was last seen, the flip-flops he had been wearing were discovered on the side of the road. Footprints, confirmed to be his, were found leading towards the nearby Tantramar River. Extensive searches were conducted in the area involving police dogs, ground search teams, and helicopters, but they yielded no further trace of Chris. Years have passed since Chris Metallic was last seen, yet his case remains an active investigation with the RCMP. Tips have continued to come in over the years, and search efforts have been renewed, including an underwater recovery team searching the area where he went missing. Despite these efforts, there have been no concrete answers as to what happened to him. His family and friends continue to hold out hope for closure, grappling with the profound uncertainty of his absence. His mother has expressed her belief that he may still be in the woods somewhere in the area. The official investigation has stated that his disappearance is not considered suspicious and foul play is not suspected. The case of Chris Metallic is a heart-wrenching story of a young man who vanished without a trace, leaving a void in the lives of his loved ones and a lingering mystery in the small New Brunswick town.
