In the early summer of 2000, a 32-year-old woman named Irma Lynn Murdock vanished from the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The exact date of her disappearance is uncertain, with some accounts stating she was last seen on June 16, 2000, and others indicating June 24 of that same year. What is known is that after that day, friends and family never heard from her again, beginning a long and painful period of uncertainty. At the time she went missing, there was little information immediately available to the public regarding the specific circumstances of where she was or who she was with on that final day. Irma, an Indigenous woman, had black hair and brown eyes. She was petite, standing at five feet two inches tall and weighing around 130 pounds. Her body was adorned with several distinct tattoos that told a small part of her story: the letters "CT" on her chest, a rose on her upper back, a heart on her left hand, the word "Sexy" on her right calf, and the partial words "He" and "Rus" on her left calf. She also had a one-inch scar on her right forearm and a three-inch scar on her left. In the course of their investigation, authorities learned that she may have used aliases, including Sharon Valerie Peterson, Lisa Ann Flett, and Lynn Murdock, and sometimes spelled her last name as Murdoch. Over the years, the investigation into Irma's disappearance has explored troubling possibilities. Law enforcement received information suggesting that she may have traveled from Manitoba to Vancouver, British Columbia. There were concerns that she might have been involved in the sex trade, a life that carries immense vulnerability. Her case is being handled by Project Devote, a dedicated Manitoba task force that investigates missing and murdered persons cases.
