Originally from the Sudbury area, Toby was of no fixed address but was a familiar face in several Toronto communities, including the Church Street corridor, Queen Street West, and Parkdale. His life had been marked by significant challenges, having spent his early years in orphanages in South Africa before being adopted and brought to Canada. As an adult, he faced struggles with addiction and homelessness, but was known by those who cared for him as a gentle and generous person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone else. The disappearance of Lebohang Toby Nicol left his family and friends deeply concerned, prompting them to plead for his safe return. The Toronto Police Service launched an investigation, seeking the public's assistance for any information regarding his whereabouts.
