An avid and experienced camper, Leslie was on his gold Kona 10-speed bicycle, equipped with saddlebags and a sleeping bag, with the intention of traveling to Prince Albert.
It was not unusual for him to spend extended periods outdoors, but he had a consistent habit of checking in with his loved ones, a habit that was broken in the weeks that followed. His family grew increasingly concerned when he failed to make contact, a worry that deepened when he did not appear for Christmas, which was uncharacteristic for the sociable man.
The official missing person report was filed with the Rosthern RCMP on December 22, 2021, prompting a public appeal for information. As winter set in, concerns for Leslie's well-being intensified due to the dangerously cold weather and snowfall. Investigators asked residents and property owners along the route from Rosthern to Prince Albert to check their land and outbuildings for any sign of him or his belongings. He is described as being approximately 5'10' to 5'11' tall, weighing 190 pounds, with brown, balding hair and hazel eyes. The bicycle he was riding was a gold Kona 10-speed, uniquely outfitted with saddlebags on each side and a sleeping bag attached to the handlebars.
