In the quiet community of Longue-Rive, nestled along Quebec's Côte-Nord, concern began to mount for 66-year-old Isabelle Perron in the fall of 2021. While the exact date of her last contact is uncertain, she was last seen at her home on rue Principale. It wasn't until delivery people from a grocery store and a pharmacy found her door unanswered that alarms were raised, approximately six weeks after she was last seen. By October 29, 2021, the Sûreté du Québec, the provincial police force, was officially appealing to the public for assistance, as her loved ones had reason to fear for her health and safety. Isabelle was described as being 5 feet 3 inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has distinctive tattoos: a butterfly on her right wrist and a tiger's head on her lower back. The investigation into Isabelle's disappearance quickly intensified, with a police command post established near her residence. Investigators' concerns grew when it was discovered that her grandson had been present at her home and had reportedly been digging holes on the property. This led to a thorough search of the grounds, which included the unusual and grim task of emptying the septic tank. The Sûreté du Québec publicly stated that one of the hypotheses they were considering was that a violent act might have been committed against the missing woman. The search for clues extended beyond her immediate property, with forensic technicians and investigators meticulously examining a nearby abandoned house in early November 2021. As the weeks turned into months, the search for Isabelle Perron continued. Although the initial intensive ground searches, which involved canine units, did not yield the desired results, the investigation remained active. In May 2022, more than six months after she was officially reported missing, investigators resumed their search efforts in a sector near the St. Lawrence River, an area that had become more accessible with the melting of the winter snow. Despite these prolonged efforts and the investigation of various leads, including the questioning of an important witness who was later released, there have been no significant breakthroughs publicly announced in the case. The mysterious disappearance of Isabelle Perron from her small town has left a community in suspense, while her family and investigators continue to seek answers in a case marked by troubling circumstances and a profound lack of closure.
