In the summer of 2011, a 34-year-old mother named Kelly Nedine Rideout vanished from Chilliwack, British Columbia, leaving behind a life of complexities and a family who continues to seek answers. While she was officially reported missing to the Chilliwack RCMP on August 28, 2011, her family last saw her on July 10, 2011. At the time, Kelly was preparing to make a change, planning to gather her belongings in British Columbia and move back to Alberta to be closer to her children. However, she never completed that journey, and her disappearance soon became a somber mystery, deeply concerning both her loved ones and law enforcement. Kelly's life had seen significant hardship. Her mother acknowledged that Kelly had a difficult childhood, which led to her running away as a teenager and later struggling with drug addiction as a way to cope with past trauma. Despite these challenges, she had expressed a desire to leave that life behind. Investigators believe she lived a high-risk lifestyle, and from the outset, her disappearance was considered suspicious. The nature of her case was serious enough that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the file, believing that Kelly had been a victim of foul play. The years following Kelly's disappearance have been marked by a painful and frustrating search for closure for her family. Her mother, Nicole Dignard, has traveled from Montreal to participate in searches, driven by a desperate need to find her daughter. Her children have grown up with the profound absence of their mother, with her daughter Alyssa holding vigils to honor her memory and demand justice. Family and friends have conducted their own searches based on tips, scouring difficult terrain near where she was last thought to be staying and other locations, clinging to the hope of finding her. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with police convinced that there are people with direct knowledge of the circumstances of her disappearance who have yet to come forward out of fear. The case of Kelly Nedine Rideout is a heartbreaking story of a woman who disappeared on the verge of a new beginning, leaving her family in a prolonged state of grief, endlessly searching for answers and the peace that a final resolution might bring.
