On a summer morning in Barrie, Ontario, a 26-year-old woman named Autumn Hope Shaganash was looking forward to a day at the local airshow. On June 10, 2023, she set out with a male friend, walking toward the waterfront. It was between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. when she was last seen in the vicinity of Sunnidale Park, near the intersection of Sunnidale Road and Letitia Street. Her friend reportedly walked ahead of her, and when he turned back, Autumn was gone. She seemed to have vanished without a sound or a trace. Autumn was last seen wearing tan-coloured leggings, a black hoodie, slip-on Puma sandals, and carrying a black and tan Juicy Couture purse. Her family reported her missing two days later, on June 12, after being unable to get in touch with her. The days following Autumn's disappearance turned into a heart-wrenching search filled with unanswered questions for her family and community. Her sister, Lili-Anne Moore, recalled the last time she saw Autumn, just a day before she went missing, when they were happily making plans for Lili-Anne's upcoming birthday. A text message from Autumn on the morning she disappeared would be their last communication; minutes later, calls to her phone went straight to voicemail. The family's own investigation into her social media accounts suggested she may have been communicating with someone around the time she texted her sister. Since she vanished, there has been no activity on her bank accounts or her cell phone. The Barrie Police Service has been actively investigating Autumn's disappearance, conducting numerous ground searches, utilizing K9 units and drones, and launching public awareness campaigns on city buses and billboards. Investigators have explored various possibilities, including the potential for human trafficking, but have not been able to determine if a vehicle was involved in her disappearance. A significant reward has been offered for information that could lead to finding Autumn, which was increased to $100,000. Despite these extensive efforts and numerous appeals to the public for information, what happened to Autumn Hope Shaganash remains a painful mystery. Her family continues to hold out hope, pleading for anyone with information to come forward. The investigation into her disappearance is ongoing as her loved ones and the community await answers.
