In the late spring of 2012, the community of Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Quebec, was forever altered by the disappearance of one of its own. Marc St-Laurent, a 59-year-old man, vanished, leaving behind a life and a community searching for answers. There are conflicting accounts of his last known moments; one report indicates he was last seen at his residence on May 17, 2012, while another states he was seen on a bench outside the grocery store at Place Quévillon on May 30, 2012. At the time he went missing, Mr. St-Laurent was described as being 5'11 ½" tall and weighing 220 pounds, with grey hair, a grey beard, and blue eyes. The initial search efforts by the Sûreté du Québec in the area surrounding Lebel-sur-Quévillon did not yield any clues as to Mr. St-Laurent's whereabouts. A significant development in the case came on July 26, 2012, when his white 1992 GMC Sierra pick-up truck was discovered abandoned on a federated snowmobile trail approximately three kilometers from the town. This discovery, however, did not lead to a breakthrough in the investigation, and the mystery surrounding his disappearance deepened. The location of his truck, away from main roads, raised more questions than answers for both investigators and his loved ones. Over the years, the search for Marc St-Laurent has continued, driven by the hope of providing his family with closure. In June 2015, the volunteer organization Meurtres et Disparitions Irrésolus du Québec organized a weekend-long ground search, which also included a marine team with divers who explored the surrounding waters. Despite these extensive efforts, no new evidence was uncovered. The case of Marc St-Laurent remains an open wound for his family and the community of Lebel-sur-Quévillon. The conflicting dates and locations of his last sighting, coupled with the discovery of his abandoned truck, paint a perplexing picture. With no further leads, his disappearance continues to be a painful and unresolved mystery.
