A 54-year-old man from Bobcaygeon, he was last seen in the Minden Hills area on January 16, 2017. His last contact was reported to be around 9 p.m. on January 17th. Authorities were alerted, and a search was initiated for the missing man, described as being six feet tall, approximately 210 pounds, with short brown hair, and clean-shaven. He was believed to have been wearing blue jeans, a black windbreaker, and black winter boots at the time of his disappearance. The Haliburton Highlands detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police launched a search effort to locate Glen. Despite their endeavors, the search was ultimately unsuccessful and was officially called off on January 21, 2017. While the investigation into his disappearance continued, authorities stated that no foul play was suspected. The community was left with a sense of unease and many unanswered questions, holding out hope for his safe return as appeals for any information were made to the public. Tragically, the search for Glen Austin Swanton concluded with the discovery of his passing on January 18, 2017. Born in Minden, Ontario, Glen was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. He had deep roots in the community, having attended school in Kinmount, Minden, and Haliburton before graduating with a degree in Psychology. Known for his love of music, he played the bass guitar and even worked as a DJ alongside his sister. He also had a passion for old cars and dancing, and cherished his family above all. For many years, he worked long hours operating heavy equipment in the Toronto area. The case of Glen Swanton's disappearance is a somber reminder of the fragility of life, leaving a lasting impact on his family and all who knew him.
