On that day, he was observed walking along the side of Route 117 near kilometer marker 543 and also on Laurier Street in Malartic. Since that sighting, there has been no communication from him, and his whereabouts remain unknown, leaving his loved ones with reason to fear for his health and safety. At the time of his disappearance, Olivier St-Denis was described as a Caucasian male, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 165 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. When he was last seen, he was believed to be wearing beige or dark-colored cargo pants and a khaki checkered shirt. He was also wearing green and grey "Merrell" brand shoes. It is possible he was also wearing a jean jacket that had a black hood. The Sûreté du Québec, the provincial police force, has been actively investigating his disappearance, seeking any information that could help locate him. As time passed without any sign of Olivier, the investigation continued. In an effort to generate new leads and gather information from the community, the Sûreté du Québec's regional investigation team from Val-d'Or planned to establish a mobile command post in Malartic exactly one year after he was last seen. This effort underscores the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to resolve the case and provide answers to his family and community.
