In the early hours of February 2, 2025, a weekend ski trip to Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, took a tragic turn for 22-year-old Liam Gabriel Toman. From Whitby, Ontario, Liam was enjoying a planned getaway with two friends that had started on February 1st. Friends and family describe him as a responsible, sociable, and recent Niagara College graduate who was close to his large family. His disappearance, which was completely out of character, began after he left a bistro in the Mont-Tremblant ski village shortly after 3:00 a.m. When he vanished, he was wearing a black and dark green patterned coat, a green plaid sweater over black pants, and a white and black striped toque.

Liam was last seen on surveillance video footage between 3:00 and 3:20 a.m., walking with purpose as if heading back toward his hotel, the Tour des Voyageurs II. In what would be his last known communication, he sent a text to someone at 3:16 a.m. that read "meet me outside". Moments later, in a perplexing turn of events captured on camera, he walked past the main entrance of his hotel and down a side passage, which was the last confirmed sighting of him. Since that time, there has been no activity on his bank accounts, phone, or social media profiles. Though his phone remained active and pinged a local cell tower for about 13 to 15 hours after he was last seen, the device has never been recovered.

The immediate aftermath of Liam's disappearance saw an extensive search effort initiated by the Sûreté du Québec, involving over 100 officers, specialized teams, security personnel, and search and rescue volunteers. For five days, the search covered a vast area of the mountain, village, and surrounding terrain, utilizing a helicopter with infrared technology, snowmobiles, and even divers to check nearby bodies of water. Despite these exhaustive efforts, no trace of Liam was found. In March 2025, a resort employee discovered Liam's wallet in a parking lot near where he was last seen, prompting renewed searches, but yielding no further clues. His family has remained relentless in their search, making numerous trips from Ontario to Mont-Tremblant, organizing volunteer searches with K9 units, and establishing a significant reward for information. The investigation into Liam Toman's disappearance remains open, and authorities now believe the circumstances are suspicious and potentially criminal in nature. The case is an ongoing and baffling mystery, leaving a family searching for answers as to how a young man could vanish just steps from his hotel.
