In the early summer of 2016, a sense of unease settled over the community of Quesnel, British Columbia, with the disappearance of 50-year-old Bryan Everett Twan. He was last seen on June 6, 2016, near the West Park Mall, a familiar local landmark. The following day, after he had not been seen or heard from, he was reported missing to the Quesnel detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police prompting an investigation that has now stretched on for years.
Bryan, an Indigenous man with fair skin, was a known member of the community, and his sudden absence left his family with lingering questions and a hope for answers that has yet to fade.
At the time he went missing, Bryan was described as being 5'11" and weighing approximately 150 to 185 pounds. He had brown, collar-length hair, which was receding, and brown eyes. Distinguishing marks included a scar on his back from a previous disc surgery and several tattoos. These included the letters "BT" on his left wrist, a design of "BEV" with a heart and a unicorn on his right arm, and a cobra with a cross on his left forearm. When he was last seen, he was wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers. He was also carrying a small blue backpack and may have been wearing a light blue denim jacket with a yellow drilling rig logo on it.
The days turned into weeks, and then into years, with no sign of Bryan. The Quesnel RCMP have continued to appeal to the public for any information that might shed light on what happened to him. His case remains an open and active investigation, a painful uncertainty for his family and all who knew him.
