On the evening of September 17, 1995, 21-year-old Bradley James Wiesner was with a group of people on an island in Manitou Lake, situated south of Neilburg, Saskatchewan. As the day turned to evening, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the group noticed that the boat they had used to get to the island was drifting away from the shore. In an attempt to retrieve the vessel, Wiesner entered the water and began swimming towards it.
Those on the island with him watched as he swam further out into the lake, but as darkness fell, they lost sight of him. Bradley James Wiesner was never seen again.
Following his disappearance, extensive search efforts were immediately launched to find the young man. These operations involved air searches, dive teams, and thorough water searches of Manitou Lake. Despite these comprehensive efforts, no trace of Bradley was found. At the time he went missing, he was described as being 5'8" tall and weighing approximately 142 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He had a couple of distinctive features, including scars below his left elbow and on his left rib cage. He also had a tattoo on his right shoulder of the cartoon character Wile E. Coyote holding a beer mug. When last seen, he was wearing a white T-shirt and shorts, along with a silver necklace that had a silver ring attached to it.
