On the evening of July 23, 2025, 66-year-old Jerome P. Williams, a resident of Buffalo, New York, was on his 35-foot Scout Boat in the upper Niagara River. He was accompanied by 46-year-old Natalie Sansivero of Grand Island. Tragedy struck around 9:40 p.m. when their boat collided with a concrete abutment near Navy Island and the north Grand Island Bridge. The impact of the crash threw both Williams and Sansivero into the water.
