In the late summer of 2019, a family's life was irrevocably altered when 58-year-old Aaron Francis Wuttunee vanished. A member of the Red Pheasant Cree Nation, Aaron was last seen on August 16, 2019, in the downtown area of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as being approximately six feet tall and weighing 186 pounds, with brown eyes and short, greying hair. Distinctive features included a two-inch scar on his wrist and a notable tattoo of a tiger and a snake on his right arm. His family reported that he was often seen wearing a hat, blue jeans, and work boots, and was known to frequent the city's downtown core.

Aaron's family grew increasingly concerned for his welfare, describing him as being in a potentially vulnerable state. This vulnerability stemmed in part from a brain injury he had sustained, which resulted in short-term memory loss and a propensity for falling. His daughter, Chelsey, shared that her father also struggled with an alcohol problem which led to a transient lifestyle, sometimes living on the streets or staying at the Lighthouse shelter. Despite these challenges, he was a beloved father who had raised his daughter from a young age. His lack of modern technology, such as a computer or a phone, made it even more difficult to trace his whereabouts. It was highly out of character for him to be out of contact with his loved ones for such an extended period, amplifying their distress with each passing day.

In the months and years following his disappearance, both the Saskatoon Police Service and Aaron's family have made public appeals for any information that might lead to his whereabouts. The investigation has been complicated by unverified tips suggesting he may have hitchhiked to Edmonton, Alberta, or even as far as Vancouver, British Columbia. Family members traveled to Edmonton to search shelters and streets, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The case remains an active missing person investigation, a painful and unresolved chapter for his family. The continued silence and lack of answers have left his loved ones in a state of prolonged uncertainty, holding onto hope while grappling with the painful reality of his absence.
