On April 30, 2010, 62-year-old Jill Dornbush was seen for the last time in Davie, Florida. A kind-hearted and helpful person, Jill was a longtime employee at a local McDonald's. Her life took a tragic turn after she befriended a homeless couple, Dalia Padron and Oscar Camejo. Surveillance footage from a Walgreens in Davie captured her on that final day, picking up a prescription while in the company of Padron and Camejo. This would be the last time she was seen publicly. When she failed to show up for her job over the weekend, concerned neighbors reported her missing, sparking an investigation into her sudden disappearance.

The investigation quickly focused on the two individuals last seen with Jill. Authorities identified Dalia Padron and Oscar Camejo as persons of interest. After being recognized from a news report, the couple was detained and questioned by the Davie Police Department. During questioning, they confessed to murdering Jill. The motive for this senseless act was reportedly because she refused to let them use her shower. Following the murder, the couple wrapped her body in a quilt, placed it in the trunk of her own car, and then drove to a nearby plaza where they disposed of her body in a dumpster. They then fled in her vehicle.

Despite their confessions, Jill Dornbush's body was never recovered. Tragically, the contents of the dumpster had been collected and incinerated before investigators were led to its location. In 2013, Oscar Camejo was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Dalia Padron was charged as an accessory to the murder. The case of Jill Dornbush is a heartbreaking story of a compassionate woman whose kindness was met with violence. Remembered by her family as someone who would help anyone, her life was tragically cut short. Although her remains were never found, the convictions of those responsible brought a measure of legal closure to a case that began as a missing person report and ended as a homicide investigation.
