Kendra Nicole Battelo, a 24-year-old female, vanished from Enid, Oklahoma, under troubling circumstances in July 2022. A member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Kendra is described as a beautiful and vibrant individual with a contagious smile who cherished her close-knit family. She was last seen on July 5, 2022, and her mother last heard her voice in a phone call around midnight on July 7, 2022. At the time of her disappearance, she was approximately 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed between 115 and 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Kendra often wore her hair in a short buzz cut but was also known to wear wigs of various colors and styles. Her family, noting that it was highly uncharacteristic of her to be out of contact, officially reported her missing on July 12, 2022, after several days of being unable to reach her. The circumstances leading up to Kendra's disappearance were fraught with difficulty. She was in a tumultuous and violent relationship with her boyfriend, Colby Sheppard. In the month before she went missing, Sheppard had been arrested for domestic violence against Kendra, who reported that he had strangled her. A court date for this case was scheduled for July, but the case was ultimately dismissed following Kendra's disappearance as she was not available to testify. At the time she vanished, Kendra had been staying with friends at a residence on West Randolph Avenue in Enid. Her family described her as struggling during this period and noted that she seemed "off" during a visit with her grandmother around the Fourth of July. After her last known phone call with her mother, Kendra's phone and social media accounts fell silent. A possible but unconfirmed sighting occurred on July 20, 2022, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, when a woman resembling Kendra knocked on a stranger's door and asked for a glass of water. The investigation into Kendra's disappearance has been complex and has taken a dark turn. Colby Sheppard, her boyfriend at the time she went missing, was later reported missing himself in early 2024. His remains were discovered in the storm cellar of a home in Enid. In connection with his death, four individuals, including Kendra's uncle, Victor Battelo, were charged with murder. Authorities believe Sheppard was killed in retaliation for his suspected involvement in Kendra's disappearance, though they have stated there is no direct evidence to support this. Despite numerous interviews, search warrants, and field searches conducted by the Enid Police Department, Kendra's whereabouts remain unknown. The case is still active and ongoing, with law enforcement continuing to seek any information that could lead to answers for her family.
