In the winter of 2021, a 56-year-old man named Michael A. Winn, also known as "Blackie," vanished from Chesterfield, Virginia, under perplexing circumstances. On December 16th, his life took an unexpected turn when he was last seen at the Chesterfield County Government Complex located off Iron Bridge Road. Earlier that day, he had been arrested for DWI and was subsequently released on a personal recognizance bond. The situation was complicated by the fact that his truck had been impounded, leaving him without his identification, money, keys, or phone. Surveillance footage from the courthouse captured a glimpse of Michael near a pay phone, presumably attempting to arrange a ride back to his home in Petersburg. Tragically, the video feed glitched, and in the next frame, he was gone, leaving no indication of his direction of travel. It is believed he may have inquired about the best way to get to Petersburg before he disappeared. His family has noted that he required glasses to see properly and did not have them with him, which would have made it difficult for him to even read the instructions on the pay phone. Concern grew when Michael failed to appear for his scheduled court date on December 21st. His family, unable to make contact with him, officially reported him missing on January 7, 2022. They emphasize that it is highly uncharacteristic of him to be out of touch, especially with his mother. Michael is described as a man who has worked in construction his entire adult life and is a father and grandfather. He enjoys fishing, working outside, and listening to music. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing at 5'8" and weighing around 150 pounds. He has a tattoo on his upper right arm and normally wears dentures, which he did not have with him when he was last seen. It is believed he may have been wearing a heavy black and orange quilted flannel jacket and camouflage-print pants. The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating his disappearance, and despite search efforts, no signs of him have been found. The case of Michael Winn's disappearance remains an unsolved and distressing mystery, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions.
